Why "visiongear"?

Our licensed Optician, Jim Hamilton and Linda Wilson have been practicing for 39 years and have a vast knowledge of selecting and fitting both glasses and contacts. Together with Jim and Linda, visiongear is bringing our products to the Internet to protect your eyes.

Services and products include:

EYEGLASSES

Eyeglass Frames
We carry a wide selection of the most current styles and many old favorites. We are able to special order almost any style if we do not happen to carry it. At visiongear our frames range in price from $50. We offer package pricing of frames and lenses beginning at $59.95.

Eyeglass Lenses
There are many different lens material to choose from. We offer lenses with the most current technology, to provide you with the most comfort and quality.

Plastic Lenses
Plastic lenses are one of the more popular lens materials used today. You will often hear the term "scratch resistance". This is coating that is added to many of today's lenses to ensure they do not scratch. While this coating does protect the lens it is not a guarantee that they are "scratch proof".

We recommend that you use warm soapy water and a soft cotton cloth to clean your lenses. We sell special cleaner and convenient cloths to carry with you.

We also recommend that you use caution with eyeglass products not sold by a professional. Never use household cleaning products such as Windex etc., these products can permanently damage the lenses.

Polycarbonate Lenses
Polycarbonate lenses are one of the newer materials available. It is the safest material made in lenses. Polycarbonate material is lighter and thinner than plastic. This allows for a more comfortable fit and a more cosmetically appealing pair of glasses. If you have had glasses in the past that were heavy or not fit well polycarbonate may solve some of the problems.

Care for these lenses the same as you would plastic.

Glass Lenses
Glass lenses are the oldest material on the market. Glass provides more scratch resistance but is much heavier than plastic and not as safe as either the plastic or polycarbonate materials. For these two reasons most people have chosen to switch to the lighter weight counterparts of plastic or polycarbonate.

Care for these lenses as you would plastic.
